Ten Days and Counting

First of all, I have no idea how to blog, and I don't really care either. The concept of blogging is completely foreign to me, and so is the idea of moving to Moscow, Russia in the middle of winter. But here we are.
If you didn't know, for the next four months, my friend Abby England and I will be living in Moscow, with a host family who may or may not know English, trying to navigate the metro, eating new foods, getting used to a different culture, traveling around Eastern Europe, teaching children English, and who knows what else.
A little backstory-
About this time last year, I went to an information meeting about ILP, or the International Language Program. They go to a variety of countries all over the world to do humanitarian work and teach kids English. Not knowing what I was going to do after I graduated from Snow College, this sounded like a great opportunity. I went through the application process, and was accepted. Abby wanted to join me, and was accepted as well. We were assigned to Moscow, Russia and are preparing to leave in ten days from now. As you can imagine, there are a lot of different emotions being felt. Two of which are anxiety and excitement. I can't speak for Abby, but I know that this experience is going to be life-changing, and I can't wait. Despite how terrified I am.
Also just to clarify, we did get to submit our preference of which country we wanted to go to. And this is a volunteer program, we do not get paid. We did have to pay about $2500 to go as well, which considering what we get to do and for how long, that is not bad at all.
Second of all, I am hoping to update this blog about every week or so, depending on my schedule. But I wanted to get it started before I left the country. It is mostly for me to organize my thoughts, pictures, and stories. And so my mom doesn't worry. So if you want to read it, go for it. Just remember that I have no idea how to blog.
